This is an old good recipe! One suggestion: right afterwards it is ready, place the tongue in a pot with cold h2o for a minute - the skin will be much easier to peel off. Serve information technology with horseradish. Delicious!

Very good. Like others I added a couple bay leaves, nigh 10 whole peppercorns, i tsp cayenne pepper, and 1 chopped onion.

Good bones recipe. After slicing paper sparse I marinate in practiced olive oil with red wine vinegar, chopped parsley, minced garlic, coarse salt and fresh footing blackness pepper. To die for as a salad or sandwich topping.

Funny, I grew up in a european household...beef tongue was always something y'all plant on the dinner table..I child y'all non! The sauce that we use is a mixture of cherry horseradish and mayo...mix to your liking...but commonly until it's a light burgundy kinda color....

In my country is a very special plate, just boiled or prepared for a neat familiar o party time, just boiled means, onion, pepper, bay leaves, garlic, white vinegar, and the natural language of grade. Simply, just table salt is not enough.

I similar ox natural language likewise. this is a good recipe. I used to eat ox natural language a lot when I was in Hong Kong. We usually serve it with curry and rice. One suggestion I would similar to make near the marinate is to use beef broth, onion, cabbage, common salt, carrot and have the tongue eddy in it for 3 hours. My one problem is that the inside of the natural language does non have also much taste because the tongue is and so big and it is difficult for the favor to get through.

I also add a few bay leaves and about a half tablespoon of whole black peppers. A friend from Mexico, taught me to utilise shredded cabbage (I used bag), with aprox 5 sliced greenish onions, 1 large chopped lycopersicon esculentum, two or 3 chopped and seeded jalepeno'southward all tossed together with a bit of olive oil and salt to make a salad. Then take chopped tongue on a soft tortilla that has been fried slightly with almost a 1/4th cup of the salad and you have one great taco! Those who get grossed out at the idea of "tongue" don't know what they are missing!

This is also really good in tacos topped with chopped onion and cilantro and a adept mexican salsa. My 8 year sometime dear the sandwich for school lunch. I added some garlic and onion to give more flavor when cooking and cooked it in my tiresome cooker overnight is the best. Thanks for the recipe.

Oh this is delicious but I take this recipe one stride further past using my families old recipe. After cooking and slicing the tongue, dip it in egg or milk and fluff it with flour. Then fry it in butter or lard till browned. season with table salt and pepper. It's out of this world succulent. I slipped information technology to my BF, which can be a fussy eater, and he flipped. Now he tells everyone they have to endeavor it!!!!

Ok. I must be about the laziest person in the globe. Merely here is what I practise and it is succulent! I utilise my crockpots. I have a couple of pieces of aluminum foil and twist them loosely, then make ii or iii wreaths...how many depends on how big the tongue is and which crockpot I am using. I put the 'wreaths' into the bottom of my crock pot and so I identify the tongues onto the wreaths so that it is non resting on the bottom of the container. I pour about i/4 cup of h2o into the bottom and one teaspoon of minced garlic (over again..I am LAZY, so I use the jar stuff) I melt information technology on low while I am piece of work. The pare practically falls off.

This is a smashing basic recipe for tongue. I add together Bay leaves, chopped round onions, a couple of garlic cloves (peeled, left whole) blackness pepper and a little more salt than what this recipe calls for to my water. (I also save the stock for later uses) Afterward nearly three hours or so, when tongue is tender and skin can be hands lifted with a fork, have out and place in cold water for 5-10 minutes (merely to cool), this makes peeling the outer peel off a little easier to handle. Discard skin. Piece the tongue in 1/4" slices and place in casserole dish or glass cake pan (Whichever is best for you lot), cover to go along warm. In a dissever small saucepan, heat 1 can Campbell'southward Foam of Mushroom soup w/1 cp two% milk and one/2 cp diced round onion(optional).(Skim or i% does not have enough milk fat) When heated, pour over beef tongue, height it off with paprika and chopped parsley (cilantro) for a squeamish garnish. This dish is bang-up served with a green vegetable (asparagus, dark-green beans, spinach, etc) and your favorite starch. And its however swell for sandwiches the next day, no need for mayonnaise, just apply the gravy. Sooo tender. Story Time: When I first fabricated this for my hubby, we were married only a yr, I called information technology Beefiness Toungay, and spoke with a french accent when I pronounced the "tongue" function. I originally was going to cook this upwards as a treat for our dogs. I started by putting it in a pot on the stove-but the natural language tried to straighten out and wouldn't fit-so I put it in a tiresome cooker so I wouldn't take to watch information technology. Added extra salt, pepper,garlic and some onion. Cooked for several hours-so placed in cool water(as recomended) to cool enough to handle and remove the skin. I took a take a chance and cut off a piece to taste. WOW-it was sooo tender and had a skillful taste-even my husband agreed. Sorry dogs we are going to consume this ourselves!

I love Tongue !!! My mom used to cook it all the time 'cause there were 4 kids, and a tongue would feed all 6 of us and leave enough for sandwiches !! She'd also melt carrots and potatoes during the last 1/two hour and it's a 1 pot meal. Save the water and employ information technology for Separate pea stock !! Much improve than using plain h2o. Just put some onions, garlic, bay leaves, and celery together with the peas and cook for a couple of hours ... mmmm skillful !!

This recipe isn't for everyone. I grew up on a farm and nosotros raised our ain beef, so I'm used to eating things similar this. Beef tongue was a delicacy that was but had once a yr. It tastes no different than roast beef other than information technology's richer in flavor. I recall the biggest trouble most people have is getting past the "idea" that information technology's a tongue.

I used to love this as a kid, thinly sliced and cold on rye bread. Notwithstanding, when I grew up and saw the whole tongue 1 day backside the cafeteria counter, I only couldn't stop talking nearly it. I thought they just called information technology tongue. I only boiled with salt, but will add garlic, bay leaf and onions next time. Wish I could remember what my mother used for seasoning, merely information technology wasn't much more than salt I believe. I boiled the natural language for 3 hours then put it into cold water for a few minutes before removing the outer pare. Then sliced it into 1/4 inch pieces. Then I roasted 8 slices of the meat with iv quartered potatoes and some carrot pieces in a dutch oven with 1 cup beef goop @ 350 for about an hour; fabricated gravy from the drippings left in the pan...great dinner!! My husband and I were both raised on farms and beef natural language was a treat. When we ordered 1/ii a beef they gave us two tongues...bonus!!

oh my, you can do amend than that. i tablespoon pickling spice, a few sliced garlic cloves, onion, 1 sm. spicy pepper (or chili flakes), table salt. make shallow incisions all over; tongue has very thick skin and will gustatory modality banal otherwise.

This takes me back. Every leap mom would set up a large pot of calf's natural language(tenderer she said), fresh green beans and new potatoes. Never used any seasoning but salt. Actually good only nobody in my family unit(husband and kids) will consume it/even effort tongue.

I grew upward on beef tongue.so yummy!I put mine in the slow cooker with an envelope of onion soup mix and cook for 6hours or til washed.I even got 1 from a friend for Christmas several years ago!All wrapped up with a red ribbon!

My sons absolutely love tongue and home made noodles. You make clean the tongue afterward cooking and cube it. Then you add together it to the broth and boil your noodles in it. It is delicious. The noodles naturally thicken the broth as they cook. I coil my noodles past hand like my mom did.

I grew up eating boiled tongue & absolutely love it! It'south great cold & sliced in a sandwich with mayo, YUM!! I have been telling family unit & friends how expert tongue tastes only thay merely say,"Gross!" to my face. I surrender! :)

I am from New Zealand and this was definately one of the favorites on our dinner table. Mum prepared exactly the aforementioned fashion. I venture a trivial further and add the peppercorns and bay leaves groovy proffer.

One of my favorite meats. We had this every bit children because it was inexpensive for mom to prepare for family unit of eight. I still love information technology. I slice it and dip pieces in love mustard. YUM

This was the first time I have ever washed beef natural language and the Dear wife and I loved information technology. I might accept over cooked it, but it was super tender and once the skin was off the meat roughshod apart. We'll be making this again real soon.

My female parent taught me to put it dorsum.in the pot afterward skinning and let it sit for almost an hour to a absorb more than flavor. I also add most of the aforementioned spices, just had not considered cabbage. I think that I will endeavor that next time.
